Self-Portrait with Mozart

1994 | Concertos, Orchestral

Publisher: RAI COM.  This is a unique work for solo violin, solo piano and orchestra. It started its life as a completion of an unfinished first movement by Mozart that was intended as part of a three-movement double concerto. After this initial project, the composer expanded it into a four-movement work, of which the the completed Mozart fragment became the second movement.  Although it was the composer’s intention for the completed Mozart fragment (now the second movement) to sound just as if Mozart had composed it, the first, third and fourth movements are both related to the Mozart language as well as clearly distinct from it.  The instrumentation is: 2222. 2200.timp.1perc.vln.pno.strings (at least 65432).
